Sorry this is so late! Glad you figured it out.
What Power Transformer are you using? For our kit, we are using the Hammond 290AX which is 325V.

Figured it out. The original target values from Daves book expect a 325v power feed. The revised schematic and layout are using 275v, which I adopted. This is why its lower

Just finished my two stroke build using a 125ESE and one 12ax7 (thanks to the revised TAN 1.13.2011 revised 1.0 schematic). I checked voltage readings against D.Hunters book and mine are low. Perhaps I should look into smaller PT dropping resistors?

Hi Brian. I don’t recall. I haven’t touch the amp in years. I’ld have to get it back on the bench to find out. All I know is it’s working fine, though the overdrive isn’t as saturated and smooth as I would like. My bench is in total disarray right now, so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get it back on the bench to test it.

Hey Mark…. Did you ever figure this out? I’ve got the exact same issue going on with deluxe reverb reissue. Except on the rectifier I’m getting more like 7v on P2 and like 1v on P8. And my DC on P8 is even higher than yours.
I’m wanting to think that it’s an issue with xfmr yellow wires but I don’t understand how it can raise the DC voltage so…[Read more]

Robin replied to the topic Does 290AX need an artificial center tap? in the forum 2 Stroke Amplifier Design and Building 11 months, 1 week ago
You can use the 6.3v center tap (green & yellow) to ground OR the 2-100 ohm resistors as an artificial center tap, but not both. Good luck, enjoy.
